About EXBC
The Mission
Expansion Broadcast (EXBC) is a podcast and streaming internet radio show based out of Washington, DC. Its run by by IllEffect (a.k.a. Erictronica) and is cohosted by Deinfamous, Whighzeguy, Stepan, Refugee, and Encryption (Harry Ransom also makes frequent appearances). Our aim is to deliver fresh dubstep, [2-step/future] garage, and drum & bass mixes to our audience weekly through our live internet stream on Fridays (7 PM EST), our podcast, or through some nerdy-magical-RSS-feed.
History
Launched in September of 2003, Expansion Broadcast was one of Destroyer.net’s first radio programs dedicated to bringing you the best in drum and bass, hip hop, and UK Garage from the Washington DC/Baltimore corridor. Its founder, DJ IllEffect, was aided by his two co-hosts, MC insuWRECKtionist and DJ Direct Logic when the show first launched out of College Park, Maryland. Shortly after the turn of year, EXBC was relocated to Washington, DC gaining its new co-host, longtime crew-mate Shade; at which point refocusing its purpose almost entirely on drum and bass music.
Since EXBC‘s inception, it has been graced by a variety of talents spanning the break beat based EDM culture including Telemetrik, Robot Death Squad, Headhunterz Inc., the 2-Charming Crew, t.E.C.K, Cam One, Dave Nada, Deinfamous, Jesse Tittsworth, and Max B (of Beatbox.tv) who”s interview on EXBC was featured on his DVD released in early 2004.
In the summer of 2004, Expansion Broadcast’s family grew to include four of Washington DC’s finest DJs/producers: Deinfamous, Darkenetiks, Hitoi, and Ransom who have all helped in bringing new talent and variety to EXBC and Destroyer.net.
