New ways to listen to EXBC

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Heya team! So the guys over at Essential Tunes FM have graciously hooked us up with a whole new slew of ways to listen to the show live. They’ve added support for Quicktime, Windows Media, and Real Player streaming! I haven’t had a chance to test any of these streams yet but for all you iPhoners out there, this might mean that you’ll be able to stream the show directly via the web using the Quicktime stream. Again, I could be wrong but I’ll be sure to test it out tonight. I’d test it now but there’s no 3G where my office is located and I don’t dare try to listen via Edge.

Feel free to check out all the new streams over on our listen page.

If you run into any issues (or successes), post a comment in this post for me. Thanks!

Slow week for podcasts

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

“Where’s the Deinfamous set from last week?”

“And where is Ricky Ricardo’s?”

I know, I know. We’ve been running into some timing snags that have prevented us from getting the files uploaded. We should however have Deinfamous’ set up later tonight and Ricky Ricardo’s will likely follow either Friday or more likely Saturday. Mr. Deinfamous has been a bit busy lately with “life” and Ricky Ricardo’s mp3 is stuck on Whighzeguy’s roommate’s computer to which he presently has no access.

Onto some brighter news, we got a pretty spiffy lineup this week. Our usual dubsteppers will be hosting the later half of the show but this week we’ll have a special guest mix by DJ Stepan along with a live mix by Dirtbox Radio’s finest host, ODJ. Big tings! So don’t miss that this Friday!

Oh! And don’t forget, this Saturday is the kick off of Whighzeguy’s newest part, “Easy Does It.” Follow the link for all the details.

ill Omen this Friday on EXBC

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

One of Virginia’s finest drum and bass producers will making an appearance on the show this Friday, August 15th. ill Omen has been cranking out some heavy tunes as of late and I’m certain his set will be nothing short of amazing.

And just a heads up, we’ll be swapping up the dupstep and dnb slots again this week so dnb will be 9-11.

Enjoy responsibly.

Quick change to the lineup tonight

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Looks like Alter-Ego won’t be able to make it after all. Luckily, Signal of Robot Death Squad fame will be filling in instead. Yayyyyy!

That’s all.

F44 final broadcast

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

This Friday will be the last show broadcast from good ol’ f44, the mothership of Expansion Broadcast. No, this doesn’t mean that the broadcast is ending whatsoever. We’re simply going through a brief transition. I (IllEffect) won’t be hosting the show for a few weeks after this Friday but I will be back soon enough. In the interim, Whighzeguy and Ricky Ricardo will still be doing the damn thing and we’ll likely have some guest dnb hosts as well.

No worries, we’re not going anywhere!

Myspace: “Hi EXBC, Welcome to 2003″

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

So I finally decided to create a Myspace page for the show. I’m gonna try to keep the blog on their updated with all the podcasts and such. That of course won’t change how I do things on this page so if you hate Myspace as much as I do, don’t worry. But if you’re all about it, we’d appreciate it if you add us.

The URL for our Myspace page is: http://www.myspace.com/expansionbroadcast.

The ol’ Switch-a-Roo

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Just so everyone isn’t completely thrown off during tomorrow’s show (July 11th 2008), the dubstep crew and the drum and bass crew (i.e. me) are going to be swapping slots. Normally we do drum and bass during the first half of the show (7-9 PM EST) and dubstep during the second half (9-11 PM EST). But this is where things get WONKY so try and stay with me now. The dubstep crew is gonna host the show from 7-9 and the drum and bass crew will take 9-11. Did get ya get that? I know, its difficult. Read it over a few more times if ya need to. Its a fuckin’ doozy!

Am I done being a jerk you ask?

Nope.

No show Friday the 4th. Independence + 1 | EXBC -1

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

How’s it going super fans? Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but our usual live EXBC recording will not be happening tomorrow, July 4th. According to Ricky Ricardo it would be unpatriotic of us to record on the 4th and who I am to argue with patriotism? (Where is that sarcasm tag?)

On the brighter side though, this won’t mean that we won’t have a podcast for you next week (how’s that for a confusing sentence!). Dubstep extraordinaire, Ill.Selection, has recorded a studio mix of his own work which we’ll be posting next Monday so definitely be on the look out for that.

EXBC 3.5 released

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

Howdy friends.

Just wanted to let everyone know I finally launched the new version of the site. Its nothing major as you can probably already tell. I really just wanted to spiffy up the design a bit and fix some other things that had been bugging me. I haven’t had the opportunity to test it on a lot of different browsers so I do anticipate there are some bugs that still need squashing. I am, however, gonna say this much right now - if you’re using IE6 (Microsoft Internet Explorer 6) or below, tough buttons. From this point on IE6 is dead to me. I don’t have the time or much feel the need to go and fix all the silly HasLayout and misc PNG transparency issues. (If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you’re a better man than I.)

Anyway, not much else to say. Do check out the new EXBC calendars page. Right now I only have 1 calendar running. Soon you’ll be able to subscribe to the EXBC weekly show lineup in your favorite web or desktop calendar as well. (I’m personally a huge fan of Google Calendar.) For now, you can subscribe to all our upcoming gigs and live appearances. WhooRaaah!

Oh, if you spot any obvious bugs, please leave a comment in this post. I’ll work on sorting those out throughout the week. Please let me know what browser you’re using, the version number, and what steps I can take to recreate the bug. Many thanks!

Upcoming events that have my name on the bill.

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Pushing my name out there and waving the EXBC flag at a couple events in June:

06/21/2008 Gridlok & Icey event
presented by Steez Promotions
at Bedrock in Baltimore, MD

Event details are here, and the full line-up should be announced shortly. In the words of Houston, expect some heavy rave Djing. I will probably be playing drum’n'bass most of the time, but who knows, I might delve in to some other music as I see fit.

06/27/2008 LODA
presented by 88 Music
at Gallery in Silver Spring, MD

A few things on this one. Number one, this is a three hour set in the main room, playing from 9:30PM to 12:30AM. That’s big. Number two, the 88 Music guys have told me I can play anything I want, and I intend to do just that. Expect it to start slow and chill, and hopefully by the end there will be people swinging from the rafters. And three, this will be my first performance for the 88 Music guys, and I am really looking forward to working with them, I dig what they have been doing with their other events, their blog (www.eightyeightdc.com/88blog/) and their new weekly, LODA, which is starting on June 6th.

So come out, say hi, shake a leg, call for rewinds, get involved.
