EXBC + Post Party = Awesome Friday Night for You

Friday, October 19th, 2007

So after one helluva craptastic week, I’m certainly glad its Friday as I’m sure you are as well. Sure, you probably don’t have work tomorrow, but that’s not why you’re excited. Oh no. That’s just ridiculous.

Tonight = EXBC funness. First up, we of course have our usually scheduled broadcast. I’m gonna drop some MAD BEATS (and by “mad” I mean smooth and sexy) for the first hour. After me, your favorite roommate-fill-in and mine, Mr. Beasley. Then from 9-11, I reckon Ricky Ricardo will take over from there and close out nicely with some dubstep that’ll surely put you right to sleep give you a boner?.

BUT THE FUN DOESN’T STOP THERE! After we close up shop, we’ll be heading over to Rock n Roll Hotel out on H St NE for some more drum and bass funness (I used it twice in this post, I believe that makes it an official word). Our very own Handsome Harry Ransom and (Mildly Attractive?) Mike Darkenetiks will be doing their thing from 12:30 to 1 12:30 - 1:30 (oops, I’m a moron) along with Altered Encryption, Headhunterz, Telemetrik, Lycan, Kaotix, Inflictz, and MC Concept. Fun fun funness (that’s three times!). Its free so shut your face and come on out.

More events!

Monday, October 15th, 2007

Sure, we still have these guys playing Rock & Roll Hotel this Friday night, and then show patriarch IllEffect at Five on Wednesday the 24th, but now we have two more events we think you all should know about:

10/26 - Ransom at Buzz @ Fur: wearing the same suit that I wear to Jungle Jessie & James Jukata’s wedding earlier that night, I will be opening up for Breakage, who will be playing a 3-hour set of whatever he wants. I want to play drum’n'bass, so that’s what is played during my two hour set. Carl Cox is in the main room, and Mike & Ali are wearing costumes.

11/21 - Ransom and Darkenetiks @ Pho-Real Thanksgiving @ Five: Playing separate sets, I know I am playing classic drum’n'bass on the roof, and Mike is going to play vinyl records of some sort. Plus Matt Nordstrom and Dave Nada in the main room, and who knows who else is on this line up. The next day is Thanksgiving, so come out this night!

And in non-club event news, Renaissance Festival this past Saturday was super super fun, and next weekend a bunch of us are hitting the NoVA beer festival, which is going to be tasty.

IllEffect: Sonar / You: So There!

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

Sonar Flyer with Jungle Drummer, DJ FU, and IllEffect

As Harry pointed out in the post below, I’m playing at Sonar tomorrow night alongside The Jungle Drummer with DJ FU. I’ll be the first to admit I had no idea who the fuck DJ FU was either but I was rather delighted when I saw this video clip:

Pretty sweet huh? Well I thought so anyway.

Anyway, I’m pretty sure I can get pretty much anyone on the guest list or at the very least, the reduced list. If you want in, just post a comment on this post with your full name and anyone else’s name you’d like comped as well. If you don’t feel comfortable doing that, you can drop me a line directly via our contact form with the same info.

GIGS UPON GIGS OF GIGS - you dig?

More events TBA, plus you should have caught Deinfamous the other week at Buzz (www.buzzlife.com), which has recently reopened at new venue.

Some upcoming events you might want to check out…

Monday, September 17th, 2007

Have to plug some events I am playing in the next few weeks:

09/23/2007 - Sin @ Modern _DC
Eric and I played here last month, really nice space, but they need some bodies in the venue to really get things moving. They recently decided on a name for this new dnb weekly, and it is Sin. The past few weeks have seen J Smooth, Telemetrik and Relapse play, and next week it is myself and Jae Kennedy from Philly, along with Illy MC and residents Jaybird (he’s new to the DC area) and Inflictz.

09/29/2007 - Throttle Like A Rock Star @ Element Lounge _Richmond, VA
So who wants to road trip? Because I am going to be playing down in the RVA for the first time in about three or four years, and it’s a two room event with Dara headlining the dnb room, plus myself and Jungle Jessi coming down from DC, and then some local support (I believe Sabertooth? Cool name, he’s part of the Konkrete Jungle even down there), and the second room has Bassbin Twins headlining. R A V E.

10/19/2007 - Drum Ritual @ Rock & Roll Hotel _DC
Mike and I are playing B2B. That is big time. We’re also sharing a 1.5 hour slot. That’s big too. First ever Darkenetiks & Ransom tag team of greatness. Plus a lot of our local friends are playing this night too. EXBC gettin’ tipsy.

Ransom playing breakbeats. Again. In August.

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

So my good pal Matt Nordstrom a.k.a. Matty a.k.a. MRN a.k.a. MR. N, he hit me up last week about playing the BUZZLIFE x SLEAZE monthly event Save The Bees, which has been taking place the final Friday of each month, all summer long. Originally I was going to play drum’n'bass, and maybe bring a couple breakbeat tunes with me.

Then Buzzlife announced Buzz is coming back (September 21st is the start, weekly Fridays at Fur, check their site for more).

And then this Save The Bees night was announced as the final Save The Bees night.

Anden I get notified that the venue has decided “NO DRUM’N'BASS!” Probably because club owners and managers do not know the difference from a deep D-Bridge tune from a technological meltdown Limewax tune… and the last time they had some drum’n'bass, they probably fixated on the burning depths of hell opening up from the speakers when some hard tune got played. So I am told “need you to play a breaks set, they’re saying no dnb.” Fine, I’m game, but I am going to play some other stuff too I think. Anyways, enough bitching from me, I actually really want to play some more drum’n'bass sets (and not hour long or tag team sets, unless they are 3+ hour tag teams).

So here it is, the final Save The Bees event at RnR Lounge:

SAVE THE BEES - Friday August 31st, 2007

August 15th at Five - Ransom playing breakbeats

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

“Wait what?”

Yup, I am Djing at a club for the third time this month, and I am playing breakbeats. August 2007 seems to be “theme” month for me as far as bookings go, and the guys at Essential Breaks asked if I’d like to play a set for them. I figured why not, I like breaks, and I need an excuse to play out all the 30 Hz & Baobinga tunes I have.

Here are the details:
