Styliferous probably needs an introduction. In contrast to many of the prodigious selectors he appears with, it may be the lack of experience that generates the most excitement about this young artist. Born of the US dubstep boom in the late-aughts and early 2010s, it wasn’t until April of 2011 that Styliferous figured he’d first try his hand at mixing tracks, most of which were bro-stick glowlectro jams. This is what he refers to as the Dark Period, and We Do Not Discuss This.
Some months later, Styliferous had his ears opened to the proper dubstep sound at the same time that he began an extended love affair with drum and bass. Armed with a desire for all things bass weight, he dived into the history of the sounds, eager to hear and experience all he had missed from his time spent sleeping.
Now, barely two years removed from having released his first mix in 2011, Styliferous continues to carve a name for himself in the DMV area. His reputation for strong musical selection has earned him appearances for both Petrol and Deep Sessions, the premier bass music nights in Baltimore and Washington DC. He also makes regular appearances in Virginia Beach, where he currently resides and continues to spread the sounds he has come to love.
A rule of thumb has been generated in the 757: If it’s dubstep, and Styliferous isn’t playing it, it’s not worth your time.
