Slow week, but I’ll post anyway.
Nov 14
So I’m not planning on posting my mix from last week’s show. It was poop so don’t sweat it if you missed the show. I’ve been trying to get in touch with Ricky Ricardo to find out if he was able to record his episode but no word yet.
There ain’t much on the gig-front at the moment either. “The IllEffect World Tour” seems to have calmed down so I’m laying low unless you count my upcoming talk at Pikesville High School this Friday where I touch on such important topics as: being an awesome DJ, being an awesome web developer, and just being awesome. Important stuff, kids.

Fur realz, yo? You’re going to speak at a high school about being awesome? That’s AWESOME! ;P
Seriously though, going to talk abooouuuuttttt…?
Sounds interesting.
haha!
Well it started out with me just going there to talk about DJing with the kids and just me kinda showing off.
Come to find out, its me going up there to talk about DJing and balancing all your other priorities in life, blah blah blah. Its supposed to be an “inspirational talk”.
To be honest, I’m actually kinda nervous.
btw, whats up dood?
Wow. That actually sounds pretty cool. I definitely understand being nervous — I always get nervous when I have to talk in front of people, but then I remember, “Wait a minute! — I’m awesome! And these people are here to listen to me, which makes me even awesomer!” Plus, they’re high school kids, and — from what I’ve heard ;), high school kids love DJs!
Anyway, I’m sure you’re already done and it was… well, awesome, of course.
Going to check out Neil Young @ DAR tonight, so I won’t be able to tune in to the broadcast, but I’ll still be rockin’ in the free world. (Ugh. Okay. That suxed.)
There need to be more drum&bass events in Alexandria. :\
Hehe.
Oh, I meant to ask, what kind of tunes did you take with you? D&B? I think the young guns should be exposed to the breakbeat madness — who else is going to support vinyl culture in 2025?
I’m planning on writing up an actual post about the whole experience at some point either this weekend or early next week. But just to answer your question, I only really brough hip hop records up there although I did make a point of telling the kids I’m not actually a hip hop DJ but rather a drum and bass DJ. For my final session (I did 3 talks total), I actual took out my ipod and played an Alix Perez tune just to give them a, albeit small and narrow, taste of drum and bass.
