A little Background on Myers

myers became a fan of electronic music in the very early 90′s when introduced to such tracks as the Techno remix of Sesame Street and Two Bad Mice. Following that introduction myers progressed into Trance and other electronic music variations. Unable to draw a clear distinction and/or definition between the categories or classifications of this style of music, myers continued forward in his early stages of love and appreciation for electronic music. In 1996, fellow DJ and friend introduced him to a Fabio mixed tape and that introduction was superseded by Dieselboy’s 1996 release, Drum and Bass Selection USA. From this point, myers love for Drum and Bass was formed.

From 1997 to 2002 myers participated in the DC Rave scene becoming a frequent patron of establishments such as Rise, Fever, Nations (formally Buzz), The Edge and any other electronic music events or festivals. myers has since been on an indefinite sabbatical from the club scene but has never lost his love for Drum and Bass.

In the early years, myers was taught the fundamentals of Drum and Bass mixing from DJ Serch and was also exposed to the many other styles of Turntablism. myers has an appreciation and liking for most other styles of electronic music such as; Progressive House, Chicago Hard House, Breaks, Dub, Drumstep and Trance. myers has also experimented with the mixing and production of such music but predominantly dwell’s in the world of Drum and Bass.

myers was a name taken from a close friend and local graffiti legend/club kid “myer” (RIP). myer was affiliated with local crews such as AWP, GWS, TBF and KGB. myer had a profound influence on DJ myers and was DJ myers primary inspiration to continue his name through Drum and Bass music.

• Logic would not let me bounce down the entire mix as one file, hence the second part. So to my buddies using Logic, four hours and forty minutes of audio is too much for Logic 8 to bounce, but you kids are probably using Logic 9 nowadays.
• I got hungry during part one and played that Basic Channel track because I needed to eat, but I still wanted to mix. I had baked potato soup.

Dan is also VP for the DC Craft Bartenders Guild, and recently asked if I would put together a mix for a future themed room at the 3rd Annual Repeal Day Ball, an annual event put on by the Guild. And so we have this epic, nearly five hour long mix of spacey techno, house and some “what should we call this stuff?” tunes. Listeners might recognize a few of the artists names and labels, but this is a big departure from what I am known to play. It is not the most aggressive mixing, as the intent of the mix was to carry a mellow mood for the event, and it helps serve as great background music.
